International con man Rudi Dekkers was charged with criminal fraud in a case observers speculated might be a `holding' charge to keep him in the country.

Unable to pay the rent on time at his flight school in Venice for six months in a row before the 9/11 attack, Dekkers was somehow flush enough after the attack to pay this $50,000 judgment one month after the attack. Observers wonder where he got the money.

Transferring assets out of the country, Dekkers made a bid to avoid his U.S. creditors.

"No gas…not even for cash" Dekkers' reputation as a deadbeat was so bad they wouldn't even sell him gas for cash.
